Robert (Bob) Carbone is currently the Lead Investigator with OSHA’s Region 1 Criminal Investigations Team based in Boston and serving all of New England. Bob has been with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) since 2007 when he was first hired as a Compliance Safety and Health Officer (CSHO) assigned to the Construction Industry Group, Boston North Office. Bob was promoted after completing hundreds of construction and general industry inspections and served as an Assistant Area Director (Construction Group) for OSHA’S Boston North Office. Bob was appointed to the newly formed Criminal Investigations Team (CIT) pilot program in December of 2017 and was promoted to Lead Investigator when the CIT became permanent in the spring of 2019.
Bob is a licensed Electrician, who, prior to working at OSHA, worked for over 25 years with the IBEW Local 103 on larger commercial projects in the greater Boston area including the Central Artery Tunnel project and the Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. Bob was also an instructor for the IBEW/JATC/NJATC for over 14 years. He has been utilized by the agency for electrical incidents that require in-depth knowledge of electrical safe work practices NFPA 70E, OSHA, ANSI and NFPA 70.
